Level 1: Types of eyelash extensions – divided by Users
Lashes are basically divided into 2 groups: used by anyone (non-professionals) and used by lash technicians (professionals).

– DYI Lashes
DIY lashes (Do-It-Yourself lashes) are false eyelashes that individuals can apply at home, without the need for a professional. These lashes are designed to give the wearer a fuller, longer, and more defined lash look. There are different types of DIY lash systems, including strip lashes, and lash clusters… People normally call them “Overnight Lashes”. And technically speaking, 1 unit of DYI lashes is normally adhered to more than 1 natural lashes.

– Lashes Used by Lash Techs
Lashes used by lash technicians at salons, often referred to as professional lash extensions, are typically higher-quality and applied with more precision than DIY options. These lash extensions are semi-permanent, meaning they can last for several weeks with proper care. And technically speaking, 1 unit of these lashes is normally adhered to only 1 natural lashes.

Level 2: Types of eyelash extensions – divided by Lash styles
At this level of classification, lashes are typically divided into 2 groups: individual lashes trays and ready-made fans lashes.

– Individual Lashes Trays
One unit of lashes is a single hair (with 1 top and 1 root). When picking up the lash for applicaiton, The lash technician can decide how many hair she would like to pick in 1 shot as she wish. If she would like to creat classic lash sets, she’ll pick 1 single hair to apply on 1 single natural lash. If she would like to create volume sets, she’ll pick more than 1 single hair at one time, then form the fan before applying it on 1 natural lashes.
– Ready-made Fan Lashes
One unit of lashes contains more than 1 single hair (it usually have 1 root with many tops). When picking up the lash for application, The lash techs can just pick only 1 fan and apply to only 1 single natural lash to create volume sets. This type of lashes was created to reduce the application time in making volume and hybrid lash sets.
Level 3: Types of eyelash extensions – divided by Lash Types
– Type of individual lash trays
In this level 3, Individual lashes are devided into 3 main groups: Classic, Volume, and Easy Fanning.

These 3 types of individual lashes have the same appearance. You can only look deeper into their thickness, try them, or trust the information on their box to know which one is what you are looking for.
– Types of Ready-made fans lashes
In this level 3, Ready-made fans lashes are devided into promade and premade fans. Apparently their difference is based on their stem (root) as the image below.

In this level 4, we’ll classify the lashes by several createrias: By materials, by fans style, by packaging method and by their other specifications.

– Divided by the Lash Materials
- Mink lashes: made of the real mink hair. Due to its animal’s origin, it’s used less nowaday.
- Faux mink lashes: made of synthetic fiber, which immitate the properties of the real mink lashes.
- Silk lashes: made of synthetic fiber also. it’s softer and more matte than mink, but less deep black.
- Cashmere: new synthetic materials which are almost black as mink and soft as silk

– Divided by Fans Styles

- Wide fans: the fans lash with a naturally wide open
- Narrow fans: the fans with less blooming open
- Wispy: Fans with a built-in spike at the middle of the fans
- Camelia: Fans with un-even tops
- YY: Fans with the shape of Y letter (2 double fibers in 1 fans)
- W: Fans with the shape of W letter (3 single fiber in 1 fans). Nowaday, We have develop more variables of W to have 4W, 5W, 6W…
- Multilayers: Fans with 2 or more layers with different curvatures on 1 single fans.
– Divided by Packaging Methods

- Loose fans: Read-made fans with no adhesive tape (removed). Fans are free in the box.
- Rapid fans: Read-made fans with adhesive tape (not removed, not add to a label card). Each strip of fans are free in the box.
- Fans in lines: Read-made fans with adhesive tape (not removed, added to a label card). Each strip is add to a line.
– Divided by specifications
- Curvature: How the lash was bended to create the angle between the hoziontal line and the lashes. The curvature are named by the letters like: J B C CC D DD M L LC LD…

- Thickness: The diamension of the hair that the lashes are made of. Lashes can be thin as 0.03 0.04 0.05 0.06 0.07mm for volume sets or 0.085 0.1 0.12 0.15 0.20..mm for classic sets.
- Length: The length of the lashes. It’s measured in mm. A good range of length might be from 4mm to 20mm.
- Color: The colors of the lashes. Besides black lashes, There are so many of colors of lashes nowaday.
