0. WHAT IS THE NATURE OF A LASH FAN?
The primary function of a lash fan is enhancing the length and the thickness of a lash set. Therefore, They normally have the structure with of 1 root (socalled stem) and many tips as their nature. Normally, a volume fan is created by bundlling many single fibers at their root. And we usually call that process “fanning”.
Nowadays, we have developed many different methods to create the lash fan, making different types. Lets review them in this articles.

1. FRESH HANDMADE FANS BY LASH ARTISTS WORLDWIDE
Every day, millions of lash artists worldwide are creating countless lash sets—many of which are volume or hybrid sets made using volume lash fans. The majority of lash artists prefer to create their own fresh fans by hand during the application process. This preference stems from reasons such as artistic expression, flexibility, and the sense of full control over the quality of each extension session. And since it’s fresh, there would be no pre-bonded glue layer at its stem, allowing it wrap the natural lashes. This way bringing higher retention. But their disadvantage is time-consuming and require skills.
The techniques that those lash artists use to create the lash fan could be: Flower Bouquet, Pinching/Finger Method, Sticky Dot / Volume Dot / Bubble, Wiggle / Shimmy, Lonely Fan / Fan on Strip / Rolling. And the fans can vary from 2D-30D or even 40D.
2. HANDMADE FANS BY TECHNICIAN IN VIETNAM
Many lash artists don’t have enough time or techniques to create perfect handmade fans that they want. Responding to this, Many technicians in Vietnam helping to create the fans and send to their customer in USA, EU, Australia. The main techniques they use is rolling, same as the lash artists does. Its advantage is obviously less time consuming. However, the fans are always pre-glued one time, loosing its ability to wrap. The consequence is lower retention.

3. PREMADE FAN BY LASH FACTORIES IN CHINA
Since the method that the lash artists use to create the lash fan is not high efficient enough for an industry, lash manufacturers in China and Vietnam have developed the manufacturing methods for many many times. Nowadays, Chinese factories have come to semi-auto manufacturing. The premade fans made in China are normally featured with flat bases, heat-bonded stem. This istem can’t wrap, making a lower retention in the comparision with the fresh handmade fans.

4. PROMADE FAN BY LASH FACTORIES IN VIETNAM
With premade fans, users typically look for longer stems and pointy bases to create a thinner bond between the false lashes and the natural ones. The shape of promade fans more closely resembles the handmade fans created by lash artists. Since the production of promade fans is ‘handmade with tools,’ it allows for customization and the creation of unique fan styles such as narrow fans, wispy fans, camellia 2-layer, and camellia 3-layer fans. Their stems are usually glue-bonded, which removes their ability to wrap around the natural lash. Promade fans were developed to meet that need. They take more time to produce than premade fans, which results in a higher price.

5. OCTOPUS PROMADE FAN
Octopus promade fan is the premade lash fan that wrap. it was developed by Sen Lash Factory Vietnam. it’s has the shape totally the same as all the fan that lash artists create but with firmly fix at the uper part of the stem. The lower part of the stem are loose allowing it to wrap.

6. YY, W LASH FAN
YY or W lash fans are a smart invention. It reverses the normal manufacturing process of a premade fan. Normally the tips of the fans is created before the stem. By creating an individual line of lashes first (fix the stem first) then move their tips aside to create the gap between 2 tips, it create the fan. It’s biggest advantage is cost-effective since 1 very small box can hold many premade-fans. The texture of the lash set that it create is also a plus. However, They can’t create mega-volum sets. The thickness can’t be too thin too.

7. LASER LASH FAN
Unlike other types of lash fans that are made by bundling separate fibers together, laser lash fans are created by cutting a flat plastic sheet into the desired shape. This manufacturing method removes many constraints and unleashes creativity in design. Its main drawback, however, is the thickness of the lashes. To produce thinner lashes, higher-resolution laser machines and higher-quality material sheets are required.

Faux Mink vs Silk Lashes: An ultimate comparison
Have you ever read a comparison between Faux Mink and Silk Lashes shared by a Lash manufacturer, rather than a retailer? Let’s spend about 5 minutes on this post. I’m sure you’ll find something new and valuable. And you’ll surely master their differences.

Table of Contents
1. What is the difference in materials and structure between Faux Mink and Silk Lashes?
Both faux mink and silk lashes are synthetic fibers, not derived from animals. Currently, PBT fiber from Korea or Germany is considered the most preferred material. Please note that we’re discussing the primary ingredients, not all components. In this article, when comparing “premium mink and silk”, we’re excluding the potential effects of impurities.

The primary difference between these two fibers lies in their taper structure. Silk lashes have a more pronounced taper (2/3), while mink lashes have a less pronounced taper (1/3). Understanding this distinction can help you better appreciate the other properties of these two types of lashes. For instance, this is why silk lashes often appear “thinner than they should be,” and why mink lashes may seem thicker to those familiar with silk lashes.

2. Comparision on their Darkness
Both of them are dark black. However, the darkness of faux mink lashes seems to be slightly deeper, even when not considering the advantage of their taper structure. However, it’s not easy to notice this difference when examining a single hair from each. To truly appreciate the difference, it’s best to compare two lines of them side by side under the same lighting conditions.

3. Is the Silk Lashes softer than Faux Mink?
That’s correct. Silk lashes generally provide a softer feel compared to faux mink lashes of the same length and thickness. This is primarily due to their unique taper structure. You don’t need to be a lash expert to be able to realize this different. Just need to use a tweezer to bend the lashes, you will see that silk lash bend more.

4. Do Faux Mink and Silk Lashes come in variety of faux length, thickness and curvature?
Both silk and faux mink lashes are available in a wide range of curls, lengths, and thicknesses, as shown in the table below. However, customer preferences for each type of lash can vary depending on the thickness. For the thicker lashes, people tend to choose mink and and vice versa.

5. Which one is more matte – Faux Mink or Silk lashes?
Normally when we think about silk, we think about its softness and its silky appearance.. However, in this case of lashes, silk lash seems to be more matte than faux mink.
6. How about their weight?
With the same length and thickness, silk lash is slightly more lightweight due to its typical top (taper). You can use a scale to measure their weight directly, but any client at a lash extension studio can tell you that much. On the other hand, mink lashes provide a more dense look.
7. Which one has a better retension?
As long as they’re used in the right way, there will be no different in their retension. If both pretreatment and aftercare guidance are well complied, their retension can be upto 8 weeks. You can see how full a set of volume lashes with our mink lash after 3 weeks below.

1.1. Definition of Premade Lash Fans
It’s a volume fan that is created in a factory before being sent to the lash artist. This means it’s ready to use for lash artists to create a volume lash set, which helps save a lot of time.
Please note that it’s just a fan (many tapers on one small stem), not strip lashes (many tapers on many stems attached to a strip).
It still requires the client to use the service of a lash artist to have the volume lash set; it’s not for self-application.
1.2. How many types of premade lash fans are there on the market?
Same as normal classic or volume lash trays, premade lash fans have their different curvatures, lengths, thickness and colors. Moreover, as the fans has been created, they vary from 2D to 30D (number of tapers on a fan)
Especially, the lengths of the stem can also divide them into 3 different groups: long stem, short stem, mid stem.

1.3. How Premade Lash Fans are produced?
Pre-made lash fans are manufactured in bulk by machines. These fans are created beforehand, where multiple individual lash extensions are bonded together at the base. Normally, the pre-made fans has flat bases, heatbonded.
Almost all pre-made lash fans are now produced in China.

2.1. Definition of Promade fans
Promade fans are a new generation of pre-made lash fans. They are also produced in large quantities in lash factories but using different methods for different results. Promade fans immitate the handmade fans by the lash artists. They look 100% the same with the fans created by the lashes artists, their bases are even thinner.
Promade fans are characterized by their thin bases, glue-bonded. There is no short stem on promade lashes. Advanced manufacturers like Sen Lash Factory can provide three stem lengths: 2mm, 2.2mm, and 2.5mm.

2.2. How many type of promade fans are there on the market?
Similar to pre-made lash fans, promade fans come in various curvatures, lengths, thicknesses, and colors. What truly sets promade fans apart is their diverse styles, such as standard fans (wide fans), narrow fans, Camellia, and wispy.
- Promade standard fans & Narrow fans

- Promade fans Camelia, Wispy

Wispy lashes are promade lashes with a built-in spike in bold in the midle of the fans.

Camelia lashes are the fan features by its un-even tapers.
2.3. How promade fans are produced?
Promade fans are handmade with tools in some steps:
- Step 1: Implanting: the straight lash hairs are place in to a mold. This step decides the fans style (2D, 3D…20D), its length (7mm-20mm), its thickness (0.03 0.04 0.05 0.07 …) and its colors.
- Step 2: Rolling: this step create the curvature and the thin base of the lashes.
- Step 3: Drying: this step fix the curvature
- Step 4: Glue: this step fix the base of the lashes
- Step 5: Packaging.
This video can show you each step.

Table of Contents
1. J curl lashes

J curl lashes are a type of eyelash extension characterized by their straight base and slight curve at the tip, resembling the natural curl of many people’s natural lashes. This type of lash extension is considered one of the more natural-looking curls due to its subtle curve, making it ideal for clients who want to enhance their lashes without a dramatic effect. The angle that it’s created is about 30-35 degree, slightest one among all of the lash curls.
Key Features of J Curl Lashes:
- Natural Look: J curl lashes are perfect for those who want a natural enhancement. The slight curl mimics the natural shape of most lashes, providing a subtle lift and length without being overly noticeable.

- Gentle Lift: The subtle curl provides a gentle lift to the lashes, making them ideal for clients with naturally straight or slightly downward-pointing lashes. They help open up the eyes slightly but are not as lifting as C or D curls.
- Versatility: While J curls are primarily chosen for a natural look, they can be combined with other curl types in a mixed set to create customized lash styles that suit individual eye shapes and preferences.

Considerations:
- Less Dramatic: If a client wants a more dramatic or noticeable lash look, they might prefer other curl types, such as C or D curls.

3. C curl lashes

Among all the lash curls, C curl is one of the most popular types of eyelash extensions due to their noticeable, yet still natural-looking curl. They provide a more dramatic lift compared to J and B curls, making them ideal for clients who want their eyes to appear more open and their lashes more prominent. The angle that it’s created is about 55-60 degree.
Key Features of C Curl Lashes:
- Pronounced Curl: C curl lashes have a stronger curl than J and B curls. The curl resembles the natural curve of most eyelashes but with an added lift, which makes the eyes appear larger and more awake.

- Clients with Straight or Slightly Curved Lashes: They are particularly suitable for clients with straight or slightly downward-facing natural lashes, as the C curl helps lift and enhance the appearance of the eyes.
- Everyday and Special Occasions: The moderate yet noticeable curl makes them a great choice for everyday wear and special occasions, as they provide a balanced look that is both elegant and natural.
Considerations:
- May Appear Less Dramatic on Downturned Eyes: While C curl lashes are good for lifting straight lashes, they may not be as effective for clients with very downturned eyes or lids, as the lift may not be as noticeable.
- Not Ideal for Very Curly Lashes: For clients with naturally very curly lashes, C curl extensions might not blend well and could appear uneven or mismatched.
4. CC curl lashes

So called C+ curl, CC curl lashes are a type of eyelash extension that provides a more dramatic curl than the standard C curl but is not as extreme as the D curl. They are designed to create a noticeable lift and curl, making them an excellent choice for clients who want their lashes to have a more pronounced, glamorous look without going too bold. The angle that it’s created is about 65 degree.

- Lifts and Opens Up the Eyes: Due to the increased curl, CC curl lashes are great for lifting the lashes and opening up the eyes, giving a more awake and alert appearance. This curl can help create a more youthful and wide-eyed look.
- Versatility in Style: CC curl lashes are versatile and can be used to create various lash styles, from slightly natural to full glam. They are ideal for clients who want a noticeable enhancement but still want the flexibility to wear their lashes for everyday looks or special occasions.

- Clients with Slightly Downturned or Straight Lashes: These lashes are suitable for clients with natural lashes that are straight or slightly downturned, as the CC curl helps lift the lashes upward, enhancing the overall appearance.
- Glamorous Looks: Ideal for clients who want their lashes to stand out, whether for everyday wear with a bit more flair or for special events where a more dramatic look is desired.
Considerations:
- Can Appear Too Bold for Some: While not as dramatic as the D curl, the CC curl is still quite pronounced. Clients seeking a subtle, natural enhancement might find this curl too intense for their preference.
- Not Ideal for Very Curly Natural Lashes: Clients with naturally very curly lashes might find that CC curls don’t blend as seamlessly, potentially leading to a mismatch in curl patterns.
5. D curl lashes

Along with C curl, D curl is also one of the most popular lash curls used. It’s a type of eyelash extension known for their dramatic, bold curl. They have a deep, prominent curl that creates a striking, lifted effect, making them a popular choice for clients who want a glamorous and eye-catching lash look. D curl lashes are ideal for achieving a wide-eyed, doll-like appearance. The angle that it’s created is about 70 degree.
Key Features of D Curl Lashes:
- Dramatic Curl: D curl lashes have a very pronounced curl that curves sharply upward, making them one of the most dramatic lash curls available. This curl gives the lashes a noticeable lift and creates an impactful look that draws attention to the eyes.
- Intense Lift: The deep curl of D curl lashes significantly lifts the lashes, making the eyes appear larger and more open. This effect can help achieve a more awake and youthful appearance, particularly for those with naturally straight or downward-pointing lashes.
- Ideal for Creating Volume and Fullness: D curl lashes are great for adding both volume and length. Their dramatic curl and lift create the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes, making them perfect for creating a bold, glamorous look.
- Suitable for Various Lash Styles: These lashes can be used to create various styles, from full glam to cat-eye effects, depending on the client’s preferences and natural lash line. They are particularly popular for events, photoshoots, and occasions where a more dramatic look is desired.
Best for:
- Clients Seeking a Bold and Dramatic Look: D curl lashes are ideal for clients who want their lashes to be the focal point of their makeup. They provide a high-impact, glamorous effect that makes the eyes stand out.
- Clients with Straight or Downward-Pointing Lashes: These lashes are particularly effective for lifting straight or downward-pointing natural lashes, helping to open up the eyes and create a more lifted appearance.
- Special Occasions: Due to their dramatic effect, D curl lashes are often chosen for special events, weddings, parties, and any occasion where a more striking lash look is desired.
Considerations:
- May Not Suit All Eye Shapes: While D curl lashes can be flattering on many eye shapes, they may not be the best choice for clients with deep-set eyes, as the intense curl can sometimes create a “closed off” effect.
- Not Ideal for Naturally Curly Lashes: Clients with naturally very curly lashes may find that D curl lashes do not blend well with their natural curl, leading to a mismatched or uneven appearance.
- Can Be Too Intense for Some: D curl lashes are quite dramatic and may not be suitable for clients seeking a subtle, natural enhancement. They are best for those who are comfortable with a bold lash look.
6. DD curl lashes

DD curl lashes, also known as “U curl” or Double D” curls, are a type of eyelash extension that offer an even more dramatic curl than D curl lashes. They have an extreme upward curl that creates a very lifted, bold, and eye-catching effect, making them ideal for clients who desire a striking, glamorous lash look. The angle that it’s created is about 80 degree.
Key Features of DD Curl Lashes:
- Extremely Dramatic Curl: DD curl lashes have the most pronounced curl of all lash types. The curl curves sharply upward, creating a very lifted effect that opens up the eyes significantly and gives a bold, intense look.
- Maximum Lift: The DD curl provides maximum lift to the lashes, making the eyes appear much larger and more awake. This curl is particularly effective for achieving a dramatic, doll-like appearance and is often used in creating highly glamorous lash styles.
- Enhanced Volume and Fullness: Because of their intense curl, DD curl lashes give the illusion of added volume and thickness. They are perfect for clients who want their lashes to look fuller and more voluminous, creating a bold statement with their lash extensions.
- Ideal for Special Occasions and High-Impact Looks: DD curl lashes are often chosen for events, photoshoots, or occasions where a dramatic lash look is desired. They are popular in the fashion and beauty industries for creating high-impact looks that draw attention to the eyes.
Best for:
- Clients Who Want a Bold and Dramatic Look: DD curl lashes are perfect for those who want a very noticeable lash look with an extreme curl. They provide a striking effect that makes the eyes the focal point of the face.
- Clients with Straight or Downward-Pointing Lashes: These lashes are especially beneficial for lifting straight or downward-pointing natural lashes, helping to open up the eyes and create a more alert, awake appearance.
- Special Occasions: Due to their bold, dramatic appearance, DD curl lashes are often chosen for special occasions, such as weddings, parties, photoshoots, or any event where a high-impact look is desired.
Considerations:
- Requires Careful Application: Due to their intense curl, DD curl lashes require precise application to ensure they adhere well to the natural lashes and maintain a uniform appearance.
- May Not Suit All Clients: The extreme curl of DD curl lashes may not be suitable for all clients, especially those seeking a more natural enhancement. They are best suited for those who are comfortable with a very bold lash look.
- Not Ideal for Naturally Curly Lashes: For clients with naturally very curly lashes, DD curl extensions may not blend well, potentially creating a mismatched appearance.
7. L curl lashes

L curl lashes are a unique type of eyelash extension that combines a straight base with a dramatic upward curl at the tip. This shape is specifically designed to create a natural lift and open up the eyes, making them particularly useful for clients with certain eye shapes or those who wear glasses.
Key Features of L Curl Lashes:
- Straight Base with Sharp Curl: The L curl starts with a straight base that transitions into a sharp upward curl at the tip. This distinctive shape makes the lashes appear more lifted while still providing the illusion of length and volume. The sharp curl helps mimic the natural growth pattern of straight lashes, creating a more seamless blend with the natural lash line.
- Enhanced Eye Opening Effect: The sharp upward curl of L curl lashes helps to open up the eyes, making them appear larger and more awake. This curl is especially effective for creating a more alert, youthful appearance without the need for overly dramatic curls that might look unnatural on some eye shapes.
- Ideal for Certain Eye Shapes: L curl lashes are particularly suitable for clients with hooded, monolid, or deep-set eyes. The straight base ensures that the lashes do not press against the eyelid, while the upward curl helps prevent the lashes from touching or rubbing against glasses or sunglasses.
- Natural Appearance: Despite their unique shape, L curl lashes can provide a natural-looking enhancement, especially when used on clients with straight or downward-facing natural lashes. The curl is less rounded than C or D curls, providing a lift that is noticeable but not overly dramatic.
Best for:
- Clients with Straight or Downward-Facing Lashes: The L curl helps lift and curl straight or downward-facing lashes, giving them a more open and lifted appearance.
- Clients with Hooded or Monolid Eyes: The L curl’s sharp upward angle is excellent for lifting the lashes away from the eyelid, making it ideal for clients with hooded or monolid eyes who want to create the illusion of more prominent, open eyes.
- Clients Who Wear Glasses: Because of the straight base and upward curl, L curl lashes are less likely to brush against glasses or sunglasses, making them a practical choice for clients who wear eyewear.
Considerations:
- Less Natural for Some Clients: For those with very curled or naturally voluminous lashes, L curl lashes might look less natural due to their unique shape. Clients seeking a subtle enhancement might prefer curls that follow a more traditional curve.
- Not Suitable for All Eye Shapes: While L curl lashes are great for certain eye shapes, they may not be as flattering on clients with naturally curly lashes or those with a strong natural curl, as the straight base might not blend seamlessly.
- Application Technique: L curl lashes require careful application to ensure that the base aligns well with the natural lash line, and the curl is positioned correctly to achieve the desired lift and effect.
8. M curl lashes

M curl lashes are a type of eyelash extension characterized by their unique shape, which features a sharp bend at the base and a more gradual curve through the rest of the lash. This distinctive design creates a bold, lifted appearance, making M curl lashes ideal for clients seeking a dramatic and eye-opening effect.
Key Features of M Curl Lashes:
- Sharp Bend at the Base: M curl lashes start with a pronounced, sharp bend right at the base of the lash. This initial angle helps to lift the lashes dramatically from the lash line, providing a striking lifting effect.
- Gradual Curve Through the Length: After the sharp bend, M curl lashes have a more gradual, elongated curve compared to other lash types. This design mimics the natural arc of the eye, enhancing the eye’s shape while providing a pronounced lift.
- Bold, Dramatic Appearance: The combination of a sharp bend and a gradual curve gives M curl lashes a unique look that is both bold and sophisticated. They create a noticeable lift that opens up the eyes significantly, making them appear larger and more defined.
- Suitable for Various Lash Styles: M curl lashes are versatile and can be used to create a range of styles, from a natural enhancement to a more voluminous, dramatic look. They are particularly effective for adding both length and lift, making them ideal for clients looking to accentuate their eyes.
Best For:
- Clients with Straight or Downward-Pointing Lashes: M curl lashes are excellent for lifting straight or downward-pointing natural lashes. The sharp bend at the base helps to lift the lashes away from the eye, creating an open, wide-eyed look.
- Clients with Hooded or Deep-Set Eyes: The unique shape of M curl lashes is especially flattering for clients with hooded or deep-set eyes. The sharp bend helps to lift the lashes away from the lid, preventing them from being hidden by the natural fold of the eyelid.
- Clients Seeking a Bold, Dramatic Look: M curl lashes are perfect for clients who want their lashes to stand out. The distinctive shape provides a dramatic effect that is ideal for creating high-impact, glamorous lash styles.
Considerations:
- Can Look Less Natural on Some Clients: Because of their bold shape, M curl lashes can appear less natural on clients seeking a subtle enhancement. They are best suited for those who are comfortable with a more dramatic lash look.
- Not Ideal for All Eye Shapes: While M curl lashes are versatile, they may not be suitable for all eye shapes. Clients with naturally very curly lashes or those with a strong natural curl may find that M curl extensions do not blend well with their natural lashes.
- Requires Skilled Application: Due to the sharp bend at the base, M curl lashes require precise application to ensure they adhere correctly to the natural lashes. The unique shape can be challenging to apply, so it’s important for lash artists to have experience working with this type of curl.
9. LC curl lashes

LC curl lashes are a specialized type of eyelash extension designed to offer a unique combination of characteristics from both L curl and C curl lashes. They are known for their versatility in creating various looks, particularly suited for clients with specific lash needs or those seeking a distinctive eye-opening effect.
Key Features of LC Curl Lashes:
- Combination of L and C Curl Characteristics: LC curl lashes feature a straight base similar to L curl lashes, with a slight, gradual curve like C curl lashes. This combination provides a lift similar to L curl lashes but with a more natural, less extreme curve at the tips.
- Straight Base with Gentle Curl: The straight base helps to lift the lashes away from the eyelid, preventing them from touching or rubbing against glasses. The gentle curve at the tip provides a softer, more natural-looking lift compared to the more dramatic L curl.
- Enhanced Lift and Natural Look: The LC curl is designed to provide a noticeable lift while maintaining a natural appearance. This makes it an ideal choice for clients who want to open up their eyes without the bold, dramatic effect of more pronounced curls.
- Versatile Application: LC curl lashes can be used to create a range of styles, from subtle enhancements to more defined looks. They are versatile enough to suit various eye shapes and lash conditions.
Best For:
- Clients with Straight or Downward-Facing Lashes: The straight base of LC curl lashes helps to lift straight or downward-facing natural lashes, creating a more open and lifted appearance.
- Clients with Hooded or Monolid Eyes: LC curl lashes are effective for clients with hooded or monolid eyes, as the straight base prevents the lashes from touching the eyelid, while the gentle curve helps to enhance the eye shape.
- Clients Who Wear Glasses: Due to the straight base, LC curl lashes are less likely to brush against glasses or sunglasses, making them a practical choice for clients who wear eyewear.
Considerations:
- Less Suitable for Very Curly Natural Lashes: Clients with naturally very curly lashes might find that LC curl extensions do not blend as seamlessly, as the straight base may not align well with their natural curl pattern.
- Not as Dramatic as Other Curls: While LC curl lashes offer a noticeable lift, they are less dramatic than curls like D or DD curls. Clients seeking a more intense, eye-catching look might find LC curls less bold.
- Requires Precise Application: The combination of straight base and gentle curl requires careful application to ensure the lashes adhere correctly and achieve the desired effect. Proper technique is important to maintain the natural-looking lift and curl.
10. LD curl lashes

LD curl lashes are a type of eyelash extension that combines elements of both L curl and D curl lashes. They are designed to offer a distinctive look that provides a dramatic lift while maintaining a more natural appearance compared to the most extreme curl types. Here’s a detailed look at LD curl lashes:
Key Features of LD Curl Lashes:
- Combination of L and D Curl Characteristics: LD curl lashes feature a straight base similar to L curl lashes, which provides a lift from the root. This straight base transitions into a dramatic curl at the tip, similar to D curl lashes, creating a striking, eye-opening effect.
- Straight Base with Dramatic Curl: The straight base lifts the lashes away from the eyelid, preventing them from touching or rubbing against glasses. The dramatic curl at the tip adds a bold, lifted appearance, enhancing the overall eye shape.
- Enhanced Lift and Volume: LD curl lashes combine the lifting effect of L curls with the dramatic volume of D curls. This makes them ideal for clients who want a noticeable lift with added volume and a more pronounced curl.
- Versatile for Various Eye Shapes: The unique design of LD curl lashes allows for versatile application, making them suitable for a range of eye shapes and lash conditions. They can be used to create both natural and dramatic looks, depending on the desired effect.
Best For:
- Clients with Straight or Downward-Facing Lashes: The straight base of LD curl lashes helps lift straight or downward-facing natural lashes, providing an open and lifted appearance.
- Clients with Hooded or Monolid Eyes: The straight base prevents the lashes from touching the eyelid, while the dramatic curl enhances the eye shape, making LD curl lashes a good choice for hooded or monolid eyes.
- Clients Seeking a Bold Yet Natural Look: LD curl lashes offer a balance between dramatic lift and a more natural appearance. They are suitable for clients who want to achieve a bold look without the most extreme curls.
Considerations:
- Compatibility with Natural Lashes: Clients with naturally very curly lashes might find that LD curl extensions do not blend as seamlessly, as the straight base may not align well with their natural curl pattern.
- May Require Skilled Application: The combination of a straight base and dramatic curl requires precise application to ensure that the lashes adhere correctly and achieve the desired lift and volume. Proper technique is crucial for maintaining the natural-looking effect.
- Not as Extreme as Some Other Curls: While LD curl lashes offer a dramatic look, they may not be as extreme as the most pronounced curls like DD or U curls. Clients seeking the most intense curl might find LD curls less bold.
How are the lash curls created in our production?

To create the lash curls in prouduction, we use lash curler. However, the curler here is not the same as one used by clients with strips lashes. Our lash curler is actually a tube with its defined demension.
The combination between the Demension of the tube and the length of the lash will create the right curl that we want. So the key here is selection the right tube with the right demension for each case of lash curl and length.
- The right curl = the right α = the right β . (We know that β=2α)
- D = L/π x 180/α

Note: The length of the lash base should be deducted from the whole length of the lashes because what we need is the right angel after application on the eyes.
With special lash curls, we just simply use the tube with the shape of the wanted curl.
This video can show you better.
Hope that this post can help you have a better understanding about the lash curl and how we make it in production. The message that we would like to deliver here is:
“We can supply all of the lash curls above. And We can adjust any of them as you wish. It means that if you still want C curl, but a little bit more bended, just tell us”

Flat lash and Mink Lash: A comprehensive Comparison
Is Flat lash completely superior normal round mink lash? And how much superior?
As a lash manufacturer, we would like to contribute some technical view on how their difference. Let’s discover it in this post. I hope that it’s not too difficult for you to understand.
Table of Contents
1. Comparison on the weight
Flat lash (so called ellipse lash or ellipse flat lash) is famous for its hack of weight while remaining the ability to enhance the full look on classic extension sets. We strongly believe that reducing the weight had been the purpose of its invention right from the beginning, not just a great result by luck.

2. Comparison on the retention
The shape of the flat hair is intentionally designed for the retension. The following image can prove it.
While it’s called ellipse lash, the most common shape of its nowaday is actually a “8” in stead of a real ellipse. I mean its has a concave structure instead of a convex structure.
Its holics fit well with the round face of the natural lashes, making a wider glue bonding area, multiplying the retention.

3. Comparison on the level of user-friendliness
Normal round mink lash is more user-friendly. It’s easy to grab up and easy to apply. We can apply the round lash to 4 sides of the natural lash (upper, under, 2 sides) while we can apply to only 2 sides (upper, under) with the flat lash.

4. Comparison on the cost
The production cost of a box of flat lash is normally at least 10% higher than a box of normal round mink lash. In the world of retail, the gap between their price is normally 20% different.
5. Comparison on the variety
a. Compare the variety of the color
Theorically speaking, if we have any color for the round mink lash, we can have the same one with flat lashes. However it’s not the case in reality. Due to the big gap in the market demand at the moment, we have much less colors on the ellipse lashes.

b. Compare the variety of the thickness
The application of flat one is almost for classic sets while the round mink lash can be used for volume, hybrid… sets too. Therefore, we have more diffrent thickness with the round lash.
- Round mink lash thickness: 0.03 0.04 0.05 0.06 0.085 0.1 0.12 0.15 0.18 0.2 0.25…. (wider range, from very thin to very thick)
- Flat lash thickness: 0.12 0.15 0.2 0.25… (narrow range, focus on thick one)
c. Compare the variety of the length
The flat one is featured with the flip tip on the only 1 base. It doesn’t allow the lash to be too short like 4mm-5mm like its possibility on the round mink lash.
Summary
Is the flat lash more light-weight than the round mink lash? And how much less?
Yes. it’s about 60% lighter
Is the retension of the eyelash extension with flat lash better than with the round mink lash? And how much better?
Yes. About from 20%-35% longer lasting
Is flat lash more user-friendly?
No. It isn’t. The normal lash can be applied to 4 sides of the natural lashes while the ellipse lash can only be applied to 2 sides
Is flat lash more expensive?
Yes. It’s more expensive of around 10%-30%
Is flat lash have a better variety?
No. it isn’t. There is less option on both the color, thickness, and length.
We really hope that the quantitative comparison above can help you have a deeper understanding about 2 types of the lash. Let us know if it can help you in the process of making your decision on the level of stock of each type.

Flat lash: New game changer or passing trend?
Flat lashes have become much more popular since their launch several years ago, raising the question: Will they completely replace traditional round lashes, or will they fade away like many other emerging trends?
In this article, We will dig deeper into its pros and cons then using our own evaluation to predict its future.
Table of Contents
1. WHAT IS THE FLAT LASH?
Flat lash is a new type of synthetic eyelash. What makes it different from traditional synthetic eyelashes lies in its shape. The lash fiber doesn’t have the usual round shape but is instead elliptical or in the shape of an ‘8’.

2. WHERE WAS THE IDEA OF FLAT LASH COME FROM?
2.a. The disadvantage of the round lash
Lash extensions always add more weight to the natural lashes, which isn’t good. Lash artists need to balance the density and the weight they add. As a result, people began looking for a solution.

The bonding area between two round hairs is minimal, which makes their connection have poor retention.

2.b. Natural hair is not round
By observing real mink hair, people found that it is never perfectly round. This means that a perfect round shape is not necessary. It inspired the idea of changing the shape of the lash while maintaining a full look.
2.c. Combination of 2-3 hair in classic sets
Have you noticed that 2 fibers of demension 0.03 is less weight than a fiber of demension 0.06 mm?

Many lash artists combine 2 or 3 fibers of thin lashes in classic sets instead of using a thicker fiber to balance the weight and achieve the desired look. This idea was a strong inspiration for the creation of flat lashes.
You may ask, why aren’t people satisfied with these techniques and instead work so hard to go further? There are two reasons behind this.
- Lash fiber producers know that, they can do even much better. That’s how the Super Flat Lash was created.

- Grabbing one fiber is always easier than grabbing two fibers at the same time, right? Which one do you think that is more user-friendly?
3. WHAT IS ITS ADVANTAGE
3.a. More light-weight
Similar to the way the lash artists hack the weight by removing negative weight in 2.c above, Flat lash and its invovated version can keep the same witdth. That’s how it getting much much more lightweight.
3.b. Softer and fuller look
The flip tips double the full look, making its softer too. On this point, I’m quite sure that you’ve got the idea, so I will not go too much deeper.

3.c. Better retention
There are at least 2 reasons that make a flat lash and the natural lash usually has a much better retension.
- Firstly, the glue-bonding area is wider
- Secondly, it puts less weight on the natural lash and the connection.

4. IS THERE ANY DISADVANTAGE?
- Flat lashes is not really suitable to make volume fans.
Almost all techniques of making volume fans tought by lash masters are one with round lashes. And you can easily imagine how different hairs of round lash combine together to make a thin base of a volume fans, but can you imagine it with flat fiber instead?

- More Difficult to produce and use
People can argue that “I don’t need to make the fans from flat lash by myself, I can ask Sen Lash Factory to help me making promade fans of flat fibers”. Yes, That’s true. We can help. But the point here is it’s more dificult to make a fans of flat lashes than round lashes, making its productivity is lower (like a limitted version) and the cost is higher.
Another important point here is that: grabbing a flat lashes requesting a lash artist more attention than a round lash. Different angle between the tweezer and the lashes not create much more different in the case of round lash, but not in the case of flat lashes.
- More expensive
As you many know, the round lash is cheapest to produce. We have a long history of producing synthetic round fiber. The round fiber is not only used for lash, but also mainly used for other products like brush. The application of brush is much wider than the lash. And you can image, who wants a brush with its hairs in flat shape? I mean, almost all of the production facility is created to produce round fibers.

5. WHEN SHOULD WE USE FLAT LASH?
It’s more suitable for classic set than volume one. There is no limitation of eye style, the same as regular individual lashes.
it’s especially suitable with the case that:
- You would like to increase the eyeliner effect
- More drama and texture
- Clients has thin or weak natural lashes
- …
6. PREDICT THE TREND OF FLAT LASH?
Do you know that, besides flat lashes, there are many other shape invented

And none of them are now replacing the round lashes 100%, right?
Yes, From our point of view, With its pros, flat lashes can increase its market, but it can NOT replace 100% the round lash due to its own cons, even in classic sets only.

Be careful with the lash suppliers saying “We have QC team”!
Saying “We have QC team” doesn’t mean that those lash suppliers really have a QC in reality. And “having QC team” is never enough to ensure the lash quality.
Saying “We have QC team” doesn’t mean that they have a real QC team.
Have you ever met and got a direct discussion with those QC members? Do they work full time as Quality Controllers or part-time only? Do they really know the Quality Controlling methods and have a clear working process with those methods employed? Do they make the decision on Quality Pass/Fails based on concretely-defined-standards?
And Do you know a fact that:
Many lash suppliers in Vietnam are not real lash manufacturers. They’re almost lash trading offices. And those lash trading offices normally ask their salemen playing the role of quality controller at the same time?
You may ask: what is wrong with it? I feel this cross-function model totally OK.
QC teams are actually salemens, and this brings you at least 2 risks:
- 1st risk: those part-time QC doesn’t have Quality Controlling skills.
- 2nd risk: as their main role is sales, they work for comission. They would like to prioritize as much as of their time on looking for customers and order. They have a big motivation to make a move on an order, rather than blocking them from the shipment.
Even when a supplier have a dedicated QC team, the quality of your lash order is not assured yet.
Quality is made in each production step, not at the final inspection. Therefore, having QC is not enough.
Let’s interview the QC of your lash supplier about when & where she do the inspection as a step of quality controlling?
If the inspection just happens as a final inspection at the end of the production, you got a big risk. Let’s imagine the case that they found a defects on the products. There would be several scenarios:
- They still ship the defected lashes to you.
- They postpone the shipment to fix the defects.
- They remove the defects one with no replacement and make a shortage in the shipment.
Eventhough, There is still a chance that:
- They fix the defects and still ship the lashes ontime, but they can’t deny that fixing the problem will cost them more. As a consequence, you’ve lose a chance of cost reduction.
What more should a lash supplier have than a QC team, to ensure the quality of your lash order?
As a basic logic, quality is made in each production steps, not at the final inspection, the quality can only be ensured when the quality in each step could be ensured.
RIGHT FIRST TIME
It means that, your supplier must have a mind set of “Right first time” and “Really know how to have Right First Time”.
Right first time means the quality is right right from the 1st time in each production step.
To have Right 1st time, a supplier must have, at least:
- People for right 1st time
- Method and Techniques for right 1st time
- Process and Tools for right 1st time
- Materials for right 1st time
- Measurement for right 1st time
At Sen Lash Factory, we have invested on these right from the begining. And we have been continuously improving it everyday.
We would be pleased to share with you concretely many of our practices on each of those points, via a direct discussion, not here. We rather be called “stingy guys” than to share our stories and know-how to other supplier…
Because we would like to:
- to protect our customer benefits: our customers must be prioritized.
- to protect our own benefits: since those mindset, know-how, and practices are invested, it becomes our assets and we don’t wanna share with other suppliers easily.
- to protect other customers on the market: to not let “fake suppliers” cheating you based on the stories stolen from us.

Cooperation modes with a lash vendor for lash supply business
A typical lash vendor is mainly providing 3 different cooperation modes: Wholesale, Private Label, Customization. These modes are designed to fit with each customer’s business model. Let’s explore them to help you choose the most suitable one for your business.
Eyelash vendors wholesale service
Wholesale mode means you buy standardized lash box from a lash vendor. They can be both a lash manufacturer or a trading company. Lashes are hold in standard boxes with none of a brand/logo, or sometimes with the brand owned by the manufacturer.

Accordinly, You can’t customized anything here since the lash factory aim to produce each type of lash at a big quantity to achieve a high efficiency for cost optimization. As a result:
- Advantages: easy to find a lash supplier and buy, low price range. Big market demand. You can sell in a bulk quantity.
- Disadvantage: There are too many trading companies on the market. It’s hard to have an optimized price. High competition, low margin. No support for your brand.
Conclusion, If your lash business target to the massive market, with a low definte margin but high quantity., this’s a best option for you. And especially for a newbie, it fit very well with your start too. Conversely, If you would like to build a fancy brand of eyelash product, this mode is not suitable.
Lash Vendor with Private Label option
In addition the the wholesale mode, lash vendor are normally providing a private label option. It means that: mainly the product are standard, except the label with the information of your own brand.

Let make some comment on this option:
- Advantage: Still low cost. Just a little bit higher than wholesale option. Start having a sign of your own brand.
- Disadvantage: You start to face the problem of MOQ, since the label can only be use for your brand. the main body of the lash box are still the same as wholesale option. So it’s hard to make your product stand out of the common ordinary products on the market.
In the communication, lash vendor sometimes offer “free private label”. It’s normally applied for the case that you buy a big quantity. Conversely, they may have already added it into the unit price.
Therefore, if you’re targeting the mass market, with a low-cost segment. Private label option is a good choice.
Lash vendors with custom packaging
Contrast to wholesale option, Custom packaging is a true private service. Best lash vendors can allow you to customize almost everything on the box, from its design to its concept, structure, or event the materials to use.

In otherwords, it’s a luxurious option for your lash brand.
- Advantage: It’s an excellent investment for your image of quality and high-end segmentation.
- Disadvantage: Higher cost. Higher MOQ. And a risk on quality as not every lash vendors can really produce high quality box.
Therefore, if your lash supply business targeted to a high-class segment, and investment has already been integrated into your branding and marketing campains, this’s almost a must choice.
