A lash extension kit for beginners typically includes all the essential tools and materials needed to apply eyelash extensions safely and effectively. Below are common items you might find in a starter lash extension kit, along with key factors to consider when selecting the most suitable options for each.

This article is not only for new lash students, but also for lash brands, lash supplies, lash academies… who would like to prepare a good lash exention kit for your students and your customers.

1. Lashes

First of all, starters need to have some suitable lash trays. However, the range of lashes is so wide that it’s difficult to select just a few. The key here is to base the selection on the lash course that the lash student registered for.

As you may know, There are 3 basic style of lash extension: Classic, Volume and Hybrid. Hybrid is actually the combination of classic and volume. Therefore, preparing the lashes means preparing for classic sets and volume sets.

Eyelash extension for Classic sets

For the best money-saving option, we can select some mixed-length lash trays with a thickness of 0.2mm, 0.15mm, 0.12mm, or 0.1mm. For the curvature, we can choose the most popular ones, like C or D curl.

Eyelash extension for Volume sets

For volume sets require thinner lashes. We can select some mixed-length lash trays with a thickness of 0.05mm, 0.07mm, 0.03mm… For the curvature, we can also choose the most popular ones, like C or D curl.

So, if the course is of only Classic or Volume sets, student just needs to buy one type accordingly.

2. Glue

There are many type of glue on the markets with different properties. To be able to select the right glue, you should get to know a little bit about it.

There are 4 factors used to distinguish different types of glue: Drying time, Viscosity, Flexibility, Longevity.

• Drying time/Curing time: The time required for the glue to dry or fully bond with the natural lashes.
• Viscosity: The thickness or consistency of the glue, which affects how it flows and adheres. Low viscosity allows for easier application and even distribution, while high viscosity may create a thicker layer.
• Flexibility: The degree to which the glue can withstand movement and stress without breaking or losing its bond. Flexible glue helps the extensions stay in place even with eye movement.
• Longevity/ Bonding strength: The strength of the bond between the natural lashes and the extensions, as well as the duration the glue can hold the extensions in place.

For beginners, Drying time should be long, Viscosity should be medium, Felixbility should be high, Bonding strength is as long as possible.

3. Tweezers

Same as lashes and glue, There are so many types of tweezers on the market, and new students need the right one to start. These are 3 essentials one:

• Tweeezers for classic sets: Typically have a fine point and either a straight or slightly curved tip. Designed to pick up and place individual lashes onto the natural lashes.
• Tweeezers for volume sets: Often have wider tips, sometimes with a flat or slightly curved shape. Designed to pick up multiple extensions at once, allowing for the creation of fans of lashes.
• Tweeezers for isolation: They typically have a finer point and a more pronounced curve, allowing for precise isolation of each natural lash.

4. Doll Head

It’s an essential tools in a lash extension kit for practice. They provide a static platform for aspiring lash technicians to hone their skills without the risk of harming a real client.

5. Practice Lashes

It’s another essential tool for eyelash extension practice. They are artificial lashes that are used to mimic the appearance of real lashes on a doll head.

6. Adhesive Ring/Holder

They are used to hold the adhesive during the application process, preventing it from drying out and ensuring a smooth and efficient application.

There are 3 mains different types:

• Glue rings: The glue ring is typically a small, adjustable ring that fits around the technician’s finger. It has a small cup or well on top where the adhesive is placed.

7. Gel Pad

Gel pads are used in eyelash extensions to protect lower lashes, provide comfort, and aid in precise application. They also help prevent adhesive transfer and can contain hydrating ingredients.

8. Tape

Tape is used in eyelash extension applications to hold down lower lashes and secure the upper eyelids. It helps keep the working area clean and free of interference. The tape is typically hypoallergenic and designed to be gentle on the skin, minimizing discomfort. It’s an essential tool for creating a clean and effective workspace during the extension process.

It will not be used when you practice on the Doll head, but it’s essential when you practice on the real person. Consider it before making decision to include it into your lash extension kit. Anyway, it’s very cheap, and you will use it eventually.

9. Wands

It’s used to comb through the lashes to separate and align them, helping to remove any clumps or tangles. They can also be used to groom natural lashes before applying extensions.

10. Brush

11. Mapping Stickers

Mapping stickers are adhesive tools used by lash technicians to plan and apply eyelash extensions. They help ensure symmetry and precision by providing visual guidelines for lash lengths and styles. It’s easy to use and efficient, they help achieve consistent results. However, are typically single-use. Therefore, 1 lash extension kit should contains many of mapping sticker.

12. Primer

There are generally two main types of lash remover:

• Gel-based remover: This type of remover is often preferred for its thick consistency, which helps to prevent the remover from running into the eyes. Gel-based removers are typically easier to apply and control.
• Cream-based remover: Cream-based removers are often more gentle on the skin, making them suitable for clients with sensitive eyes. They can be a bit more runny than gel-based removers, so it’s important to apply them carefully.

14. Mirror

Mirrors in lash extension salons play a crucial role in ensuring a precise and even application. They provide a clear and detailed view of the technician’s work.
