Table of Contents
0. WHAT IS THE NATURE OF A LASH FAN?
The primary function of a lash fan is enhancing the length and the thickness of a lash set. Therefore, They normally have the structure with of 1 root (socalled stem) and many tips as their nature. Normally, a volume fan is created by bundlling many single fibers at their root. And we usually call that process “fanning”.
Nowadays, we have developed many different methods to create the lash fan, making different types. Lets review them in this articles.

1. FRESH HANDMADE FANS BY LASH ARTISTS WORLDWIDE
Every day, millions of lash artists worldwide are creating countless lash sets—many of which are volume or hybrid sets made using volume lash fans. The majority of lash artists prefer to create their own fresh fans by hand during the application process. This preference stems from reasons such as artistic expression, flexibility, and the sense of full control over the quality of each extension session. And since it’s fresh, there would be no pre-bonded glue layer at its stem, allowing it wrap the natural lashes. This way bringing higher retention. But their disadvantage is time-consuming and require skills.
The techniques that those lash artists use to create the lash fan could be: Flower Bouquet, Pinching/Finger Method, Sticky Dot / Volume Dot / Bubble, Wiggle / Shimmy, Lonely Fan / Fan on Strip / Rolling. And the fans can vary from 2D-30D or even 40D.
2. HANDMADE FANS BY TECHNICIAN IN VIETNAM
Many lash artists don’t have enough time or techniques to create perfect handmade fans that they want. Responding to this, Many technicians in Vietnam helping to create the fans and send to their customer in USA, EU, Australia. The main techniques they use is rolling, same as the lash artists does. Its advantage is obviously less time consuming. However, the fans are always pre-glued one time, loosing its ability to wrap. The consequence is lower retention.

3. PREMADE FAN BY LASH FACTORIES IN CHINA
Since the method that the lash artists use to create the lash fan is not high efficient enough for an industry, lash manufacturers in China and Vietnam have developed the manufacturing methods for many many times. Nowadays, Chinese factories have come to semi-auto manufacturing. The premade fans made in China are normally featured with flat bases, heat-bonded stem. This istem can’t wrap, making a lower retention in the comparision with the fresh handmade fans.

4. PROMADE FAN BY LASH FACTORIES IN VIETNAM
With premade fans, users typically look for longer stems and pointy bases to create a thinner bond between the false lashes and the natural ones. The shape of promade fans more closely resembles the handmade fans created by lash artists. Since the production of promade fans is ‘handmade with tools,’ it allows for customization and the creation of unique fan styles such as narrow fans, wispy fans, camellia 2-layer, and camellia 3-layer fans. Their stems are usually glue-bonded, which removes their ability to wrap around the natural lash. Promade fans were developed to meet that need. They take more time to produce than premade fans, which results in a higher price.

5. OCTOPUS PROMADE FAN
Octopus promade fan is the premade lash fan that wrap. it was developed by Sen Lash Factory Vietnam. it’s has the shape totally the same as all the fan that lash artists create but with firmly fix at the uper part of the stem. The lower part of the stem are loose allowing it to wrap.
Refer to: OCTOPUS PROMADE LASH FANS
6. YY, W LASH FAN
YY or W lash fans are a smart invention. It reverses the normal manufacturing process of a premade fan. Normally the tips of the fans is created before the stem. By creating an individual line of lashes first (fix the stem first) then move their tips aside to create the gap between 2 tips, it create the fan. It’s biggest advantage is cost-effective since 1 very small box can hold many premade-fans. The texture of the lash set that it create is also a plus. However, They can’t create mega-volum sets. The thickness can’t be too thin too.

7. LASER LASH FAN
Unlike other types of lash fans that are made by bundling separate fibers together, laser lash fans are created by cutting a flat plastic sheet into the desired shape. This manufacturing method removes many constraints and unleashes creativity in design. Its main drawback, however, is the thickness of the lashes. To produce thinner lashes, higher-resolution laser machines and higher-quality material sheets are required.

What’s the Difference Between Promade Fans and Premade Lash Fans?
There have been a long disputation on the difference between Promade Fans and Premade Lash Fans, and which one is better or any chance that one will knock the other out of the game? It’s time to make it clearer from a lash manufacturer’s point of view.

Table of Contents
1. What is Premade Lash Fans?
In this first part, we will make a clear definition of premade lash fans with good visualization, tell you about their category, and disclose how it is made.
1.1. Definition of Premade Lash Fans
It’s a volume fan that is created in a factory before being sent to the lash artist. This means it’s ready to use for lash artists to create a volume lash set, which helps save a lot of time.
Please note that it’s just a fan (many tapers on one small stem), not strip lashes (many tapers on many stems attached to a strip).
It still requires the client to use the service of a lash artist to have the volume lash set; it’s not for self-application.
1.2. How many types of premade lash fans are there on the market?
Same as normal classic or volume lash trays, premade lash fans have their different curvatures, lengths, thickness and colors. Moreover, as the fans has been created, they vary from 2D to 30D (number of tapers on a fan)
Especially, the lengths of the stem can also divide them into 3 different groups: long stem, short stem, mid stem.

1.3. How Premade Lash Fans are produced?
Pre-made lash fans are manufactured in bulk by machines. These fans are created beforehand, where multiple individual lash extensions are bonded together at the base. Normally, the pre-made fans has flat bases, heatbonded.
Almost all pre-made lash fans are now produced in China.
2. What is Promade Fans?
2.1. Definition of Promade fans
Promade fans are a new generation of pre-made lash fans. They are also produced in large quantities in lash factories but using different methods for different results. Promade fans immitate the handmade fans by the lash artists. They look 100% the same with the fans created by the lashes artists, their bases are even thinner.
Promade fans are characterized by their thin bases, glue-bonded. There is no short stem on promade lashes. Advanced manufacturers like Sen Lash Factory can provide three stem lengths: 2mm, 2.2mm, and 2.5mm.

2.2. How many type of promade fans are there on the market?
Similar to pre-made lash fans, promade fans come in various curvatures, lengths, thicknesses, and colors. What truly sets promade fans apart is their diverse styles, such as standard fans (wide fans), narrow fans, Camellia, and wispy.
- Promade standard fans & Narrow fans

- Promade fans Camelia, Wispy

Wispy lashes are promade lashes with a built-in spike in bold in the midle of the fans.

Camelia lashes are the fan features by its un-even tapers.
2.3. How promade fans are produced?
Promade fans are handmade with tools in some steps:
- Step 1: Implanting: the straight lash hairs are place in to a mold. This step decides the fans style (2D, 3D…20D), its length (7mm-20mm), its thickness (0.03 0.04 0.05 0.07 …) and its colors.
- Step 2: Rolling: this step create the curvature and the thin base of the lashes.
- Step 3: Drying: this step fix the curvature
- Step 4: Glue: this step fix the base of the lashes
- Step 5: Packaging.
This video can show you each step.

Flat lash and Mink Lash: A comprehensive Comparison
Is Flat lash completely superior normal round mink lash? And how much superior?
As a lash manufacturer, we would like to contribute some technical view on how their difference. Let’s discover it in this post. I hope that it’s not too difficult for you to understand.
Table of Contents
1. Comparison on the weight
Flat lash (so called ellipse lash or ellipse flat lash) is famous for its hack of weight while remaining the ability to enhance the full look on classic extension sets. We strongly believe that reducing the weight had been the purpose of its invention right from the beginning, not just a great result by luck.

2. Comparison on the retention
The shape of the flat hair is intentionally designed for the retension. The following image can prove it.
While it’s called ellipse lash, the most common shape of its nowaday is actually a “8” in stead of a real ellipse. I mean its has a concave structure instead of a convex structure.
Its holics fit well with the round face of the natural lashes, making a wider glue bonding area, multiplying the retention.

3. Comparison on the level of user-friendliness
Normal round mink lash is more user-friendly. It’s easy to grab up and easy to apply. We can apply the round lash to 4 sides of the natural lash (upper, under, 2 sides) while we can apply to only 2 sides (upper, under) with the flat lash.

4. Comparison on the cost
The production cost of a box of flat lash is normally at least 10% higher than a box of normal round mink lash. In the world of retail, the gap between their price is normally 20% different.
5. Comparison on the variety
a. Compare the variety of the color
Theorically speaking, if we have any color for the round mink lash, we can have the same one with flat lashes. However it’s not the case in reality. Due to the big gap in the market demand at the moment, we have much less colors on the ellipse lashes.

b. Compare the variety of the thickness
The application of flat one is almost for classic sets while the round mink lash can be used for volume, hybrid… sets too. Therefore, we have more diffrent thickness with the round lash.
- Round mink lash thickness: 0.03 0.04 0.05 0.06 0.085 0.1 0.12 0.15 0.18 0.2 0.25…. (wider range, from very thin to very thick)
- Flat lash thickness: 0.12 0.15 0.2 0.25… (narrow range, focus on thick one)
c. Compare the variety of the length
The flat one is featured with the flip tip on the only 1 base. It doesn’t allow the lash to be too short like 4mm-5mm like its possibility on the round mink lash.
Summary
Is the flat lash more light-weight than the round mink lash? And how much less?
Yes. it’s about 60% lighter
Is the retension of the eyelash extension with flat lash better than with the round mink lash? And how much better?
Yes. About from 20%-35% longer lasting
Is flat lash more user-friendly?
No. It isn’t. The normal lash can be applied to 4 sides of the natural lashes while the ellipse lash can only be applied to 2 sides
Is flat lash more expensive?
Yes. It’s more expensive of around 10%-30%
Is flat lash have a better variety?
No. it isn’t. There is less option on both the color, thickness, and length.
We really hope that the quantitative comparison above can help you have a deeper understanding about 2 types of the lash. Let us know if it can help you in the process of making your decision on the level of stock of each type.

Flat lash: New game changer or passing trend?
Flat lashes have become much more popular since their launch several years ago, raising the question: Will they completely replace traditional round lashes, or will they fade away like many other emerging trends?
In this article, We will dig deeper into its pros and cons then using our own evaluation to predict its future.
Table of Contents
1. WHAT IS THE FLAT LASH?
Flat lash is a new type of synthetic eyelash. What makes it different from traditional synthetic eyelashes lies in its shape. The lash fiber doesn’t have the usual round shape but is instead elliptical or in the shape of an ‘8’.

2. WHERE WAS THE IDEA OF FLAT LASH COME FROM?
2.a. The disadvantage of the round lash
Lash extensions always add more weight to the natural lashes, which isn’t good. Lash artists need to balance the density and the weight they add. As a result, people began looking for a solution.

The bonding area between two round hairs is minimal, which makes their connection have poor retention.

2.b. Natural hair is not round
By observing real mink hair, people found that it is never perfectly round. This means that a perfect round shape is not necessary. It inspired the idea of changing the shape of the lash while maintaining a full look.
2.c. Combination of 2-3 hair in classic sets
Have you noticed that 2 fibers of demension 0.03 is less weight than a fiber of demension 0.06 mm?

Many lash artists combine 2 or 3 fibers of thin lashes in classic sets instead of using a thicker fiber to balance the weight and achieve the desired look. This idea was a strong inspiration for the creation of flat lashes.
You may ask, why aren’t people satisfied with these techniques and instead work so hard to go further? There are two reasons behind this.
- Lash fiber producers know that, they can do even much better. That’s how the Super Flat Lash was created.

- Grabbing one fiber is always easier than grabbing two fibers at the same time, right? Which one do you think that is more user-friendly?
3. WHAT IS ITS ADVANTAGE
3.a. More light-weight
Similar to the way the lash artists hack the weight by removing negative weight in 2.c above, Flat lash and its invovated version can keep the same witdth. That’s how it getting much much more lightweight.
3.b. Softer and fuller look
The flip tips double the full look, making its softer too. On this point, I’m quite sure that you’ve got the idea, so I will not go too much deeper.

3.c. Better retention
There are at least 2 reasons that make a flat lash and the natural lash usually has a much better retension.
- Firstly, the glue-bonding area is wider
- Secondly, it puts less weight on the natural lash and the connection.

4. IS THERE ANY DISADVANTAGE?
- Flat lashes is not really suitable to make volume fans.
Almost all techniques of making volume fans tought by lash masters are one with round lashes. And you can easily imagine how different hairs of round lash combine together to make a thin base of a volume fans, but can you imagine it with flat fiber instead?

- More Difficult to produce and use
People can argue that “I don’t need to make the fans from flat lash by myself, I can ask Sen Lash Factory to help me making promade fans of flat fibers”. Yes, That’s true. We can help. But the point here is it’s more dificult to make a fans of flat lashes than round lashes, making its productivity is lower (like a limitted version) and the cost is higher.
Another important point here is that: grabbing a flat lashes requesting a lash artist more attention than a round lash. Different angle between the tweezer and the lashes not create much more different in the case of round lash, but not in the case of flat lashes.
- More expensive
As you many know, the round lash is cheapest to produce. We have a long history of producing synthetic round fiber. The round fiber is not only used for lash, but also mainly used for other products like brush. The application of brush is much wider than the lash. And you can image, who wants a brush with its hairs in flat shape? I mean, almost all of the production facility is created to produce round fibers.

5. WHEN SHOULD WE USE FLAT LASH?
It’s more suitable for classic set than volume one. There is no limitation of eye style, the same as regular individual lashes.
it’s especially suitable with the case that:
- You would like to increase the eyeliner effect
- More drama and texture
- Clients has thin or weak natural lashes
- …
6. PREDICT THE TREND OF FLAT LASH?
Do you know that, besides flat lashes, there are many other shape invented

And none of them are now replacing the round lashes 100%, right?
Yes, From our point of view, With its pros, flat lashes can increase its market, but it can NOT replace 100% the round lash due to its own cons, even in classic sets only.
Follow us for more informative posts and contact us for the best offer of any type of lash extension.

Lash Growth Cycles and 4 suggestions for Lash Bosses
Understanding the lash growth cycles can help the lash artists adjust their false eyelash application and help the lash brands know which lash stock to invest.
Table of Contents

Which are lash growth cycles stages?
1. Anagen (Growth Phase)
- Duration: About 30 to 45 days.
- Description: This is the active growth phase, where eyelashes are growing and elongating. The follicles are producing new cells, leading to the visible lengthening of lashes.
2. Catagen (Transition Phase)
- Duration: About 2 to 3 weeks.
- Description: During this phase, eyelash growth stops, and the hair follicle shrinks. This is a short transition stage between growth and rest.
3. Telogen (Resting Phase)
- Duration: About 3 to 4 months.
- Description: In this phase, the eyelashes are in a resting state. The hair is not actively growing but remains attached while a new hair begins to form underneath.
4. Shedding (Exogen)
- Duration: Brief, occurring when new lashes are ready to grow.
- Description: This final stage involves the shedding of the old eyelash as a new one grows in its place. It is a natural, ongoing process where a small number of lashes are lost daily and replaced by new growth.
Suggestions for Lash Artists regarding Lash Growth Cycles
1. Anagen (Growth Phase)
- Characteristics: Lashes are actively growing and are often shorter and finer.
- Application Tips:
- Use Lighter Extensions: Since anagen lashes are still growing, applying lighter extensions will reduce strain and prevent potential damage or breakage as the lash continues to lengthen.
- Avoid Heavy Volume: Avoid applying heavy volume or long extensions that may weigh down the young lash and inhibit its growth.
2. Catagen (Transition Phase)
- Characteristics: Lashes have stopped growing, and the hair follicle begins to shrink. These lashes are at a stable length but still attached firmly.
- Application Tips:
- Ideal for Extensions: This is one of the best phases for applying extensions since the lashes are mature but not yet in the resting phase.
- Moderate Weight Extensions: Use moderate-weight extensions that complement the length and strength of these lashes. Lash artists can apply a fuller look without risking lash health.
3. Telogen (Resting Phase)
- Characteristics: Lashes are in a resting state, not growing, but still attached. These lashes are stable and ready for the new cycle to begin.
- Application Tips:
- Secure Attachment: Ensure extensions are well attached, as telogen lashes can support the weight of extensions.
- Avoid Overloading: Although these lashes are sturdy, avoid overloading them with excessively thick or heavy extensions to prevent premature shedding.
4. Shedding (Exogen)
- Gentle Care: Encourage gentle aftercare from clients to minimize unnecessary shedding and allow the natural cycle to continue smoothly
- Characteristics: Lashes are preparing to shed, and new lashes are forming beneath.
- Application Tips: Monitor and Replace: Be aware that these lashes will soon shed naturally, so monitor for shedding and prepare to replace extensions on new anagen lashes as they emerge.
Suggestions for Lash Brands regarding Lash Growth Cycles
1. Product Development and Design
- Variety in Lash Lengths and Thicknesses: Brands develop a wide range of lash lengths, thicknesses, and curls to cater to the different phases of the lash growth cycle. Since natural lashes vary in length and strength throughout the cycle, having a diverse product line allows artists to select the most appropriate extensions for each stage.
- Lightweight Materials: During the anagen phase, where lashes are still growing, lightweight extensions are essential to avoid straining the natural lash. Brands often focus on creating extensions that are light but durable to meet these needs.
2. Educational Resources
- Guidance for Lash Artists: Many brands provide educational resources, such as manuals, workshops, or online courses, to educate lash artists on how to apply extensions according to the lash growth cycle. Understanding the cycle helps artists use products effectively and avoid damage to natural lashes.
- Best Practices: Brands may offer guidelines on best practices for application and maintenance, tailored to different growth phases. This information helps lash artists make informed decisions about which extensions to use on clients’ lashes at various stages.
3. Marketing and Communication
- Targeted Marketing: Brands may emphasize how their products align with the natural lash cycle in their marketing strategies. By highlighting their extensions’ compatibility with the growth phases, they appeal to lash artists looking for products that promote lash health.
- Differentiation: By demonstrating an understanding of the lash growth cycle, brands can differentiate themselves in a competitive market by showcasing their commitment to quality and client satisfaction.
4. Client Satisfaction and Retention
- Long-Lasting Results: By providing lash extensions designed with the growth cycle in mind, brands help artists achieve longer-lasting results for clients, leading to increased client satisfaction and repeat business.
- Healthier Natural Lashes: Extensions that align with the lash growth cycle minimize the risk of damage, promoting healthier natural lashes and enhancing the reputation of both the brand and the artists using their products.

Cluster Lash, Premade, Promade Fan Lashes: What would be the trend and, more importantly, Why?
As a lash brand or distributor, staying updated on the latest lash trends is absolutely essential. Failing to do so can lead to missed opportunities. Additionally, it allows your competitors to gain an advantage over your business, creating a wider gap between you and them. However, following a trend can be also a risk on the other hand.
This raises a significant question: “How can we effectively decide whether to follow or disregard each trend in lash products?. For me, the answer is not only about knowing “What is trendy,” but more importantly, understanding “Why something becomes a trend.”
Therefore, today, I’m going to help you understand “Why Promade Fan Lashes would become a huge trend” in our lashes extension industry, from our point of view as a professional eyelash factory in Vietnam.
The advantage of Promade fans in comparison with the other versions
Listing out all of what your customers (a lash artists) appreciate in a fan of lashes might be a good approach, but I would focus on the main points that really make the difference, as below. Before that, lets take a look on the following picture:

- Easy to apply. This is decided by the base of the fan. It is expected to be neat enough to keep the whole fan stay beautifully on each natural lash. On this point, which one do you think is the best? it seems to be very clearly that the Promade fan is the winner in this case. Agree?
And on this point, Cluster lashes seems to be too different, but what behind the scene makes the difference between Premade and Promade. The answer here is: Premade is almost machine-made, heat bonded, while Promade is 100% handmade, glue bonded.
- Light weight. it’s, this time, decided by the materials used, the thickness, the length, and the amount of glue that it takes. Again, the amount of glue depends heavily on the structure of the base. The more pointy the base is, the most optimized amount of glue that it takes.
Let’s go deeper into the thickness and the materials. It’s hard for the Cluster and the Premade to be as thin as a Promade. Why? Because the fiber on the lash is easy to be destroyed by the heat or the fasten strip in production. Meanwhile, the Promade is handmade, glue bonded.
It’s on the quality perspective. So what about the cost?
Is Promade fan lashes affordable?
Surprisingly, Promade fan is the most affordable price.
Cluster takes time to make, Premade takes machine invested, while Promade fan need only the good labor. The interesting point here is that, the labor cost in Vietnam is maintained very attractively low, while the craftmanship is just amazing.
You may have a question on the material cost. Promade fan lashes actually use finer fiber and it should be more expensive. Yes, but not much.
But wait…! Why should a lash artist need Promade Fan while she can make it by herself?
The point here is:
Promade fan lashes is totally the same as handmade lashes, or even much better, while they’re ready made by the other people, not the artist. It can save the artist application time. It’s simple and easy to use. It can be a shortcut to have a volume or mega volume set. The effect it creates is amazing, and the clients love it.
That’s why more and more of your customer outside falling in love with Promade Fan. Some people call it a game changer.
Hope that this small post can provide you some useful formation.
