1. What is the difference in materials and structure between Faux Mink and Silk Lashes?
Both faux mink and silk lashes are synthetic fibers, not derived from animals. Currently, PBT fiber from Korea or Germany is considered the most preferred material. Please note that we’re discussing the primary ingredients, not all components. In this article, when comparing “premium mink and silk”, we’re excluding the potential effects of impurities.

The primary difference between these two fibers lies in their taper structure. Silk lashes have a more pronounced taper (2/3), while mink lashes have a less pronounced taper (1/3). Understanding this distinction can help you better appreciate the other properties of these two types of lashes. For instance, this is why silk lashes often appear “thinner than they should be,” and why mink lashes may seem thicker to those familiar with silk lashes.

2. Comparision on their Darkness
Both of them are dark black. However, the darkness of faux mink lashes seems to be slightly deeper, even when not considering the advantage of their taper structure. However, it’s not easy to notice this difference when examining a single hair from each. To truly appreciate the difference, it’s best to compare two lines of them side by side under the same lighting conditions.

3. Is the Silk Lashes softer than Faux Mink?
That’s correct. Silk lashes generally provide a softer feel compared to faux mink lashes of the same length and thickness. This is primarily due to their unique taper structure. You don’t need to be a lash expert to be able to realize this different. Just need to use a tweezer to bend the lashes, you will see that silk lash bend more.

4. Do Faux Mink and Silk Lashes come in variety of faux length, thickness and curvature?
Both silk and faux mink lashes are available in a wide range of curls, lengths, and thicknesses, as shown in the table below. However, customer preferences for each type of lash can vary depending on the thickness. For the thicker lashes, people tend to choose mink and and vice versa.

5. Which one is more matte – Faux Mink or Silk lashes?
Normally when we think about silk, we think about its softness and its silky appearance.. However, in this case of lashes, silk lash seems to be more matte than faux mink.
6. How about their weight?
With the same length and thickness, silk lash is slightly more lightweight due to its typical top (taper). You can use a scale to measure their weight directly, but any client at a lash extension studio can tell you that much. On the other hand, mink lashes provide a more dense look.
7. Which one has a better retension?
As long as they’re used in the right way, there will be no different in their retension. If both pretreatment and aftercare guidance are well complied, their retension can be upto 8 weeks. You can see how full a set of volume lashes with our mink lash after 3 weeks below.
